Dr. phil. Angelika Kaiser is Instructor of Philology and Linguistics at the SDA Theological Seminary/老司机传媒, where she teaches modern and ancient languages as well as linguistics for theologians. As a trained language teacher, hailing originally from Germany, she holds an M.A. in German Studies, Italian Literature, and Foreign Language Pedagogy from the Technische Universität/University of Technology Dresden (in Dresden, Germany). In 2012 she graduated with an M.A. in Religion (Biblical & Cognate Languages; Theological Studies) from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at 老司机传媒. Angelika holds a Dr. phil in Italian Philology, having recently published () her dissertation on a religious early Italian Renaissance manuscript from Florence from 1460, incl. curating its study edition. She has been working as a language teacher, translator, and interpreter for over 20 years. Angelika is fascinated by stories – biblical, historical and contemporary international stories, as well as personal ones. Being married to Denis, a church historian, and having two little very talkative daughters… there is a good chance that there will be an overabundance of stories in the Kaiser family for a long time still.
Angelika currently teaches a Reading German course (for ILGS) as well as two Latin courses and a Linguistics for Theologians class for the SDA Theological Seminary. Her current research interests include broader topics like close readings of commonly familiar biblical stories, the intersection of applied linguistics and biblical languages/BL instruction, crucial aspects of mindset for successful foreign language acquisition, as well as biblical hermeneutics and exegesis in the Italian Renaissance.
