Elementary Education & Secondary Education—MAT

The Master of Arts in Teaching is a professional degree designed for students who want to gain additional knowledge and increase their career options in the teaching field. Both North American Division (NAD) and Michigan state certification may be obtained while earning a MAT in elementary or secondary education. 

PROGRAM LENGTH

These 32-credit programs can typically be completed by full-time students in two years.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis (fall, summer and spring semesters).

  • Accredited by CAEP and approved by the state of Michigan.
  • Certification with a master’s degree.
  • Partnerships with other universities, districts and unions.
  • Use your knowledge in a content area to transform the youth of tomorrow.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  •  A bachelors degree (or non-U.S. equivalent) from an accredited institution and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.60 (applicants with lower GPA may be admitted upon consideration of the composite profile).
  • Two Recommendations from professionals such as advisors, major professors and employers.
  • Resume describing employment, research or special projects.
  • Statement of Purpose reflecting your philosophical perspective, personal, professional and academic goals, and reasons for seeking the graduate program.
  • TOEFL, IELTS or PTE (academic): Students whose language of education is not English must submit English proficiency test scores.
